Step 3: Enable Automatic Updates

To ensure that your Mac stays up-to-date without manual intervention, you can enable automatic updates:

  1. Go back to ‘System Preferences’.
  2. Select ‘Software Update’.
    • Click on the ‘Advanced’ button.
    • Check the box next to ‘Check for updates’.
    • Select the frequency at which you want your Mac to check for updates.
    • Check the box next to ‘Download new updates when available’.
    • Check the box next to ‘Install macOS updates’.
  3. Your Mac will now automatically check for and install updates in the background.

Step 4: Verify Update Installation

To verify that your Mac is up-to-date, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Apple menu.
  2. Select ‘About This Mac’.
    • You will see information about your Mac, including the version of macOS that is installed.
    • If it displays the latest version, congratulations! Your Mac is up-to-date.

Tips:

  • If you have any unsaved work, make sure to save it before installing updates.
  • It’s a good idea to periodically check for software updates even if you have enabled automatic updates.
    • You can do this by following Step 1 and Step 2 mentioned above.

Congratulations! You have successfully updated your Mac and ensured that it stays up-to-date in the future. Enjoy using your Mac with all the latest features and security enhancements!
