How to Update Autofill on iPhone

Autofill is a handy feature on the iPhone that saves you time by automatically filling in information like usernames, passwords, and addresses. However, it’s important to keep this feature updated to ensure accuracy and security. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to update autofill on your iPhone.

Step 1: Open Settings

To begin, unlock your iPhone and locate the Settings app. It is represented by a gear icon and can usually be found on your home screen.

Step 2: Scroll down and select Safari

In the Settings menu, scroll down until you find Safari. Tap on it to access Safari settings.

Step 3: Tap on Autofill

Within the Safari settings menu, locate and tap on Autofill. This is where you can manage all the autofill data on your iPhone.

Step 4: Update Autofill Information

Note: The following steps may vary depending on what type of information you wish to update (e.g., usernames, passwords, addresses).

a) Updating Usernames and Passwords:

  • If you want to update autofilled usernames and passwords, tap on Saved Passwords.
  • You will be prompted to authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.
  • You will then see a list of websites for which passwords are saved. Tap on any website entry to edit or remove its saved username/password combination.
  • To update a username or password, tap on the entry and make the necessary changes. Tap Done to save your changes.

b) Updating Contact Information:

  • If you want to update autofilled contact information, tap on My Info.
  • You will see a list of contacts from your device’s Contacts app. Tap on your own contact card.
  • Edit any contact details that you wish to update, such as phone numbers or addresses.
  • Tap Done to save your changes.

Step 5: Test Autofill

To ensure that the autofill information has been updated successfully, open a website or app that uses autofill (e., Safari browser, social media app). Try filling in a form or logging in to see if the updated information is populated correctly.

Note: If you’re still experiencing issues with autofill after updating the information, try restarting your iPhone and repeating the steps above.
