How to Turn on Do Not Disturb on iPhone

Do Not Disturb is a handy feature on your iPhone that allows you to silence calls, alerts, and notifications when you need some uninterrupted time. Whether you’re in a meeting, taking a nap, or simply want some peace and quiet, enabling Do Not Disturb ensures that your iPhone won’t disturb you with constant notifications.

In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the steps to turn on Do Not Disturb on your iPhone.

Step 1: Access the Control Center

To begin, swipe down from the top-right corner of your iPhone screen to access the Control Center. On older iPhone models with a Home button, swipe up from the bottom of the screen instead.

Step 2: Locate the Do Not Disturb Button

Within the Control Center, look for the crescent moon icon. This is the symbol for Do Not Disturb mode.

Tap on the icon to enable it. When enabled, the crescent moon icon will turn purple.

Note:

If you don’t see the crescent moon icon in your Control Center, it may not be included by default. You can customize which buttons appear in your Control Center by going to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls. From there, you can add or remove buttons as per your preference.

Step 3: Customize Do Not Disturb Settings (Optional)

By default, enabling Do Not Disturb will silence all incoming calls and notifications while your iPhone is locked. However, there are additional settings you can customize to tailor Do Not Disturb to your specific needs.

  • Schedule: You can set a specific time range for Do Not Disturb to automatically turn on and off each day. This is useful if you want to ensure uninterrupted sleep or quiet hours.
  • Allow Calls From: You can choose to allow calls from specific contacts even when Do Not Disturb is enabled. This ensures that important calls are not missed while still enjoying a quiet environment.
  • Silence: In this section, you can choose whether you want to silence calls and notifications always or only when your iPhone is locked.

To access these customization options, go to Settings > Do Not Disturb. From there, you can adjust the settings according to your preferences.

Step 4: Turn Off Do Not Disturb

Once you’re ready to disable Do Not Disturb and resume receiving calls and notifications as usual, simply repeat Step 1 and tap on the crescent moon icon in the Control Center again. The icon will no longer be purple, indicating that Do Not Disturb mode has been turned off.

Note: If you have scheduled Do Not Disturb enabled, it will automatically turn off at the end of the specified time range.

That’s it! You now know how to turn on and customize Do Not Disturb on your iPhone.

Enjoy uninterrupted time whenever you need it!
