Are you looking to transfer files between your Mac and other Apple devices seamlessly? Look no further – AirDrop is the solution you need!

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to turn on AirDrop on your Mac. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Open Finder

To begin, locate the Finder icon on your Mac’s dock. It looks like a blue and white face.

Step 2: Access AirDrop Settings

With Finder open, click on “Go” in the top menu bar, then select “AirDrop” from the dropdown menu. Alternatively, you can press Command + Shift + R as a shortcut.

Step 3: Enable AirDrop

A new window will appear showing nearby devices that support AirDrop. To enable AirDrop, click on the “Allow me to be discovered by” option at the bottom of the window.

Note:

If you wish to receive files only from contacts in your address book, select the “Contacts Only” option. This ensures that only people you know can send you files via AirDrop.

Step 4: Adjust Visibility

You have three visibility options when it comes to receiving files via AirDrop:

  • Everyone: By selecting this option, any nearby Apple device can discover and send files to your Mac without any restrictions.
  • Contacts Only: With this option chosen, only devices associated with contacts in your address book will be able to see and send files to your Mac via AirDrop.
  • No One: This option ensures that your Mac is completely invisible to other devices, and you won’t be able to receive any files via AirDrop. You can always change this setting later if desired.

Choose the visibility setting that suits your needs by clicking on the corresponding radio button.

Step 5: Test AirDrop

Now that you have enabled AirDrop on your Mac, it’s time to test it out! Grab an Apple device nearby and open the Control Center. Long-press or force touch the network settings card (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) to expand it.

In the expanded view, you should see an AirDrop section. Tap on it, and your Mac should appear as an available device for file transfer.

Note:

If your Mac doesn’t appear on the AirDrop list, make sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and have Bluetooth turned on.

Congratulations! You have successfully turned on AirDrop on your Mac. Now you can effortlessly share files between your Apple devices using this convenient feature.

We hope you found this tutorial helpful. Happy file sharing!
