Are you tired of accidentally triggering the SOS feature on your iPhone? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of turning off SOS on your iPhone. So without further ado, let’s get started.

Step 1: Open Settings

To begin, unlock your iPhone and locate the Settings app on your home screen. It has a gray icon with gears. Tap on it to open.

Step 2: Navigate to Emergency SOS

Once you have opened the Settings app, scroll down until you find the “Emergency SOS” option. It is usually located towards the top of the list.

Note:

If you are using an older version of iOS, the option might be labeled as “SOS” instead of “Emergency SOS.”

Step 3: Disable Auto Call

In the Emergency SOS settings menu, you will see an option called “Auto Call.” This feature automatically dials emergency services when you press and hold down the side button or power button on your iPhone.

To turn off Auto Call, simply tap on the toggle switch next to it. The switch will change from green to gray when it is disabled.

Step 4: Turn Off Countdown Sound

By default, when Emergency SOS is activated, your iPhone plays a loud warning sound along with a countdown to alert nearby people. If you wish to disable this sound and countdown, follow these steps:

  • 1. Scroll down to find the “Countdown Sound” option in the Emergency SOS settings menu.
  • 2. Tap on the toggle switch next to “Countdown Sound” to turn it off. The switch should change from green to gray.

Step 5: Adjust SOS Contacts

In the same Emergency SOS settings menu, you will find an option called “Set up Emergency Contacts.” This feature allows you to add contacts that will be notified in case of an emergency.

To adjust your SOS contacts:

  • 1. Tap on the “Set up Emergency Contacts” option. Select the contacts you want to add from your phonebook. You can add multiple contacts by tapping on the plus icon next to each name.
  • 3. Once you have added all the necessary contacts, tap on the “Done” button in the top right corner of the screen to save your changes.

Note:

If you have already set up your Medical ID in the Health app, your emergency contacts will be automatically synced with the Emergency SOS feature.

Step 6: Test Your Changes

To ensure that you have successfully turned off SOS on your iPhone, try pressing and holding down the side button or power button. If Auto Call is disabled, your iPhone should no longer dial emergency services automatically. Additionally, there should be no countdown sound or warning displayed on your screen during this test.

Congratulations! You have successfully turned off SOS on your iPhone.

Remember that safety is important, so make sure to familiarize yourself with alternative ways of contacting emergency services if needed. Stay safe!
