Android, Tutorials

In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to turn off real-time text on your Android device. Real-time text is a feature that allows users to see the typed text as it is being written by the other person during a conversation.

While this feature can be useful for some, others may find it distracting or unnecessary. If you fall into the latter category, follow the steps below to disable real-time text on your Android device.

Step 1: Open Settings

To begin, unlock your Android device and locate the Settings app. It is usually represented by a gear icon and can be found either on your home screen or in the app drawer.

Here’s how:

  • Tap on the Settings app to open it.

Step 2: Navigate to Accessibility Settings

Once you’re in the Settings menu, scroll down until you find an option called Accessibility. Tap on it to access the accessibility settings of your device.

Follow these steps:

  • Scroll down until you locate and tap on Accessibility.

Step 3: Access Real-Time Text Options

In the Accessibility settings, you will find various options related to enhancing the usability of your Android device. Look for an option called Hearing enhancements. This section contains features related to audio and text accessibility.

To access these options:

  • Navigate to Hearing enhancements.
  • Tap on it to expand its settings.

Step 4: Disable Real-Time Text

Within the Hearing enhancements section, you will find a toggle switch for Real-time text (RTT). By default, this option is enabled. To turn it off, simply tap on the toggle switch to disable real-time text on your Android device.

Here’s how:

  • Locate the Real-time text (RTT) option.
  • Tap on the toggle switch to disable it.

Step 5: Confirm Your Settings

After disabling real-time text, you can exit the Accessibility settings and return to your regular phone usage. To ensure that the changes have been successfully applied, you may want to test it by initiating a conversation or opening a messaging app that supports real-time text and check if the feature is no longer active.

Note:

If at any point in the future you wish to re-enable real-time text on your Android device, simply follow these steps again and toggle the switch back to its enabled position.

Congratulations! You have successfully turned off real-time text on your Android device. Now you can enjoy uninterrupted conversations without distractions caused by seeing every character being typed in real time.

We hope this tutorial has been helpful. If you have any further questions or need assistance with any other feature of your Android device, feel free to reach out!
