Android Auto is a useful feature that allows you to connect your Android phone to your car’s infotainment system. It provides a safer way to use your phone while driving by enabling voice commands and displaying relevant information on the car’s screen.

However, there are times when you may want to turn off Android Auto on your phone. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to do just that.

Step 1: Access the Settings Menu

To turn off Android Auto on your phone, start by accessing the Settings menu. You can do this by swiping down from the top of your screen and tapping on the gear icon in the top right corner.

Step 2: Navigate to Connected Devices

Once you are in the Settings menu, scroll down until you find the option labeled “Connected Devices.” Tap on it to proceed.

Step 3: Select Android Auto

In the Connected Devices menu, look for “Android Auto” and tap on it. This will take you to the Android Auto settings page.

Step 4: Disable Android Auto

On the Android Auto settings page, you will see a toggle switch labeled “Enable Android Auto.” By default, this switch should be turned on.

To turn off Android Auto, simply tap on the switch to disable it. You should see the switch change from green (on) to gray (off).

Note: Disabling Android Auto will prevent your phone from automatically launching the app when connected to a compatible car’s infotainment system.

Additional Tips:

  • If you want to completely remove Android Auto from your phone, you may need to uninstall or disable any related apps or updates. Check your app settings or consult your device’s user manual for more information.
  • Remember to always prioritize safety while driving. If you find yourself needing to use your phone, consider pulling over to a safe location before doing so.

Turning off Android Auto on your phone can be useful if you no longer wish to use the feature or if you prefer to use a different method for accessing your phone’s functions while driving. By following the steps outlined in this tutorial, you can easily disable Android Auto and regain control over how you interact with your phone in your car.
