How to Transfer Music From Computer to Android

Transferring music from your computer to your Android device is a simple process that allows you to enjoy your favorite tunes on the go. Whether you’re using a Windows PC or a Mac, this tutorial will guide you through the steps to transfer music effortlessly.

Method 1: Using a USB Cable

If you have a USB cable handy, this method is the most straightforward way to transfer music from your computer to your Android device.

Step 1: Connect Your Android Device

Connect your Android device to your computer using a USB cable. Ensure that both ends of the cable are securely plugged in.

Step 2: Enable File Transfer Mode

Swipe down from the top of your Android device’s screen and tap on the notification that says “USB for charging“. A menu will appear with different USB connection options.

Select “File Transfer” or “MTP (Media Transfer Protocol)“. This will allow your computer to access the files on your Android device.

Step 3: Open File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac)

Navigate to This PC(Windows) or Finder(Mac) on your computer and click on it to open. You should see your connected Android device listed under “Devices and Drives” or “Locations”. Select it.

Step 4: Copy and Paste Music Files

  • In File Explorer (Windows), navigate to the location where you store your music files on your computer.
  • In Finder (Mac), navigate to the location of your music files.
  • Select the music files you want to transfer.
  • Right-click on the selected files and choose “Copy“.
  • In File Explorer or Finder, navigate to the storage location on your Android device where you want to transfer the music.
  • Right-click in the destination folder and choose “Paste“.

Step 5: Safely Eject Your Android Device

Once the transfer is complete, safely eject your Android device from your computer. On Windows, right-click on your device in File Explorer and select “Eject“. On Mac, drag and drop your device from Finder to the trash bin (eject symbol).

Method 2: Using Google Play Music Manager (Windows/Mac)

If you prefer to use a cloud-based service for managing your music collection, Google Play Music Manager is a great option. It allows you to upload up to 50,000 songs from your computer to your Google Play Music account for free.

Step 1: Download and Install Google Play Music Manager

  • Navigate to the Google Play Music website ( using your preferred web browser.
  • Login with your Google account or create a new one if needed.
  • In the top-right corner of the page, click on the gear icon to access the settings.
  • Click on “Upload music“.
  • Scroll down and click on “Download Music Manager” for either Windows or Mac, depending on your computer’s operating system.
  • Run the downloaded installer file and follow the on-screen instructions to install Google Play Music Manager.

Step 2: Set Up Google Play Music Manager

  • Launch Google Play Music Manager after installation (usually found in your computer’s applications or programs folder).
  • Login with your Google account credentials if prompted.
  • In the Music Manager window, selectAdd Folder to Library..“.
  • Browse to the location where you store your music files on your computer and select it. Click “Add”.

Step 3: Upload Your Music to Google Play Music

  • In the Music Manager window, click on “Edit”, then “Select All”“. This will choose all the songs in your selected folder.
  • To start uploading, click on “Upload”. The upload progress will be displayed in a small window.

Note: The upload process may take some time, depending on the number of songs and your internet connection speed.
