In today’s digital age, receiving text spam on your iPhone can be both frustrating and time-consuming. Fortunately, there are several steps you can take to put an end to this nuisance. In this article, we will discuss some effective methods to stop text spam on your iPhone.

Method 1: Blocking the Sender

If you receive unwanted text messages from a specific sender, you can block them using the built-in blocking feature on your iPhone. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Messages app on your iPhone.

  2. Find the message from the sender you want to block.

  3. Tap and hold the message until a menu appears.

  4. Tap on “More..” in the menu options.

  5. A circle will appear next to each message in the conversation. Tap on the circle next to the spam message(s) you want to block.

  6. Once you’ve selected all the spam messages, tap on the trash can icon at the bottom left corner of your screen.

  7. A confirmation pop-up will appear. Tap on “Block Contact” to block all future messages from that sender.

Method 2: Reporting as Junk

If blocking individual senders doesn’t solve your problem, another option is to report text spam as junk. This helps Apple improve its filtering system and reduces the chances of receiving similar messages in the future. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Messages app on your iPhone.

  2. Find the spam message you want to report. Tap on the circle next to the spam message(s) you want to report.

  3. Once you’ve selected all the spam messages, tap on the flag icon at the bottom left corner of your screen.

  4. In the pop-up menu, tap on “Move to Junk” to report the messages as junk.

Method 3: Adjusting Message Filtering

If you’re still receiving unwanted text messages after blocking and reporting spam, it’s time to adjust your message filtering settings. Here’s how:

  1. Go to your iPhone’s Settings app.

  2. Scroll down and tap on “Messages”.

  3. Under “Message Filtering”, enable “Filter Unknown Senders” by toggling it on.

This setting will automatically filter out messages from unknown senders and move them to a separate tab in your Messages app, reducing clutter and potential text spam.

Method 4: Avoiding Publicly Sharing Your Phone Number

To further minimize the chances of receiving text spam, it’s important to be cautious when sharing your phone number publicly. Avoid posting it on public forums, social media platforms, or websites that may harvest phone numbers for spamming purposes. Keeping your phone number private can greatly reduce unwanted text messages.

By following these methods, you can effectively stop text spam on your iPhone and enjoy a clutter-free messaging experience. Remember to regularly update your iOS to benefit from the latest security features and improvements.
