Mac, Tutorials

Are you tired of accidentally recording your Mac screen and want to know how to stop it? Look no further!

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to disable screen recording on your Mac. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Go to System Preferences

To begin, click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen and select “System Preferences” from the dropdown menu. Alternatively, you can also use the Spotlight search by pressing Command + Spacebar and typing “System Preferences”. Once you have opened System Preferences, move on to the next step.

Step 2: Select Security & Privacy

In the System Preferences window, locate and click on the “Security & Privacy” icon. This will open a new window with various security settings options.

Step 3: Navigate to Privacy Settings

In the Security & Privacy window, click on the “Privacy” tab located at the top. This tab contains different privacy settings for various system features.

Step 4: Click on Screen Recording

On the left-hand side of the Privacy tab, you will see a list of privacy options. Scroll down and select “Screen Recording” from this list. By default, this option is unchecked.

Step 5: Unlock Privacy Settings

In order to make changes to privacy settings like screen recording, you need to unlock them. Click on the padlock icon located at the bottom-left corner of the window.

Note: You might be prompted to enter your administrator password before continuing.

Step 6: Check or Uncheck Screen Recording Permissions

After unlocking privacy settings, you can now check or uncheck applications that are allowed to record your Mac’s screen. To disable screen recording completely, uncheck all the applications listed under “Screen Recording”. Alternatively, you can selectively enable or disable specific applications by checking or unchecking them.

Step 7: Apply Changes

Once you have made the desired changes to screen recording permissions, close the Security & Privacy window. The changes will take effect immediately.

Additional Tips:

  • If an application is not listed: If you don’t see a specific application in the list but it still has the ability to record your screen, simply quit and relaunch the application. It should then appear in the list.
  • Re-enable Screen Recording: In case you change your mind and want to allow screen recording again for certain applications, follow the same steps and check them in the “Screen Recording” section of Privacy settings.

Congratulations! You have successfully disabled screen recording on your Mac.

Now you can rest assured that your screen won’t be recorded without your knowledge. Remember, privacy is important, and it’s always good to have control over who can access your personal information.
