Facetime is a popular video calling application that allows users to connect with friends, family, and colleagues. One of the most useful features of Facetime on Mac is the ability to share your screen.

This can be incredibly helpful for various purposes, such as giving presentations, collaborating on projects, or providing technical support. In this article, we will guide you on how to share your screen on Facetime Mac.

Step 1: Launch Facetime

Firstly, ensure that you have Facetime installed on your Mac. If not, download it from the App Store and install it.

Step 2: Initiate a Video Call

To share your screen on Facetime Mac, you need to initiate a video call with the person you want to share your screen with. Open Facetime and sign in with your Apple ID if prompted. Then, select the contact from your contacts list or enter their phone number or email address in the search bar to start a call.

Step 3: Start Screen Sharing

Once the call is connected, look for the screen sharing icon located at the bottom center of the call window. It looks like two overlapping rectangles.

Note: If you cannot find this icon in your call window toolbar, it means that screen sharing is not enabled for this specific call.

In that case, you can ask the person on the other end of the call to enable it by clicking on “Details” and then selecting “Ask to Share Screen. “

a) Click on Screen Sharing Icon

Click on this icon to reveal a drop-down menu with options for screen sharing.

b) Choose “Share Your Screen”

In the drop-down menu, select the option “Share Your Screen” to start sharing your Mac screen.

Step 4: Grant Permission

After selecting “Share Your Screen,” you will be prompted to grant permission for Facetime to record the contents of your screen. Click on “Start Recording” to allow screen sharing.

Step 5: Share Specific Window or Entire Screen

Once you have granted permission, you can choose whether you want to share a specific window or your entire screen.

a) Share Specific Window

To share a specific window, click on the window you wish to share. This is useful when you only want to show a particular application or document during the call. The selected window will be highlighted, and its contents will be visible to the person on the other end of the call.

b) Share Entire Screen

To share your entire screen, click on “Screen” located in the bottom left corner of your screen. This option is useful when you want to show everything that is happening on your Mac during the call.

Step 6: End Screen Sharing

To end screen sharing, simply click on the stop button located at the top center of your Mac’s menu bar. Alternatively, you can also press Command + Shift + S on your keyboard.

With these simple steps, you can easily share your screen on Facetime Mac and make your video calls more interactive and productive.
