iPhone, Tutorials

In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to set up emergency contacts on your iPhone. It’s important to have emergency contacts set up so that in case of any unforeseen events, your loved ones can be contacted quickly. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Open the Health App

First, locate and open the Health app on your iPhone. The Health app comes pre-installed on most iPhones and has a white icon with a red heart shape.

Step 2: Set Up Your Medical ID

Once you have opened the Health app, tap on the “Medical ID” tab located at the bottom right corner of the screen.

If you haven’t set up your Medical ID yet, tap on “Create Medical ID.” Otherwise, skip to step 3.

Step 2.1: Fill in Your Personal Information

In the Medical ID section, you will see various fields where you can enter your personal information such as name, date of birth, blood type, and allergies. Fill in these details accurately as they will be important for medical professionals in case of an emergency.2: Add Emergency Contacts

Scroll down until you find the “Emergency Contacts” section and tap on “Edit. “

  • If you already have contacts listed under “Emergency Contacts,” tap on the “+” button to add more.
  • If there are no contacts listed yet, tap on “Add Emergency Contact.

  • You will be presented with a list of your contacts. Choose the contact(s) you wish to add as emergency contacts by tapping on their name(s).
  • You can add multiple emergency contacts by repeating this step.

Step 2.3: Set the Contact’s Relationship

After adding a contact, you will be asked to select their relationship to you. Choose the appropriate option from the list (e.g., mother, father, spouse).

You can also assign a custom label by tapping on “Add Custom Label” if none of the predefined options suit your needs.

Note:

If you need to remove an emergency contact, swipe left on their name and tap “Delete.”

Step 3: Enable Emergency Access on Lock Screen

Now that you have set up your emergency contacts, it’s essential to enable access to this information from your iPhone’s lock screen. This way, anyone can quickly access your Medical ID and emergency contacts without unlocking your device.

Step 3.1: Go to Settings

Exit the Health app and navigate to the Settings app on your iPhone. The Settings app has a gray icon with gears.2: Tap on “Emergency SOS”

In the Settings menu, scroll down and tap on “Emergency SOS.”

Step 3.3: Enable “Show When Locked”

In the Emergency SOS settings, ensure that the toggle switch next to “Show When Locked” is enabled (green). This will allow access to your Medical ID and emergency contacts even when your iPhone is locked.

Congratulations!

You have successfully set up emergency contacts on your iPhone. Remember to keep this information updated as necessary, especially if there are any changes in your personal details or emergency contacts.

In case of an emergency, anyone can now access your Medical ID and contact your emergency contacts directly from your iPhone’s lock screen. Stay safe!
