Setting a custom ringtone on your iPhone 12 from the music library is a great way to personalize your device and stand out from the crowd. Luckily, Apple provides an easy and straightforward method to accomplish this. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to set a ringtone on your iPhone 12 using the music library.

Step 1: Open the Settings App

To begin, unlock your iPhone 12 and locate the Settings app on your home screen. It is represented by a gear icon.

Step 2: Scroll Down and Tap on “Sounds & Haptics”

Once you have opened the Settings app, scroll down until you find the “Sounds & Haptics” option. Tap on it to access the sound settings.

Step 3: Tap on “Ringtone”

In the “Sounds & Haptics” menu, you will see various sound settings for different events on your iPhone. Locate and tap on the “Ringtone” option.

Step 4: Select “Music”

In the “Ringtone” menu, you will find a list of pre-installed ringtones. To set a custom ringtone from your music library, scroll down until you see the “Music” section and tap on it.

Step 5: Choose a Song from Your Music Library

A list of songs from your music library will now appear. Scroll through the options or use the search bar at the top to find a specific song that you want to set as your ringtone. Once you have found it, tap on it to select it.

Keep in mind that only songs that are stored locally on your iPhone can be used as ringtones. If the song you want to use is not available in your music library, make sure to download it from Apple Music or import it via iTunes.

Step 6: Trim the Song (Optional)

If you want to use only a specific part of the song as your ringtone, you can trim it using the built-in editing tools. Simply drag the start and end markers to select the desired section of the song. Once you are satisfied with your selection, tap on “Done” in the top-right corner.

Step 7: Set the Ringtone

After selecting or trimming your desired song, you will be redirected to the “Ringtone” menu. The selected song will be listed under “Custom”. Tap on it to preview and set it as your default ringtone.

If you wish to assign this custom ringtone to a specific contact, you can do so by opening the Contacts app, selecting a contact, tapping on “Edit”, and then choosing your custom ringtone under “Ringtone”.

You have successfully set a custom ringtone on your iPhone 12 from your music library. Now, whenever someone calls you, your chosen song will play as the ringtone and make your device even more personalized.

Remember that changing ringtones frequently might disrupt familiarity when receiving calls. So choose a ringtone that is both enjoyable for you and recognizable for incoming calls!
