Sending audio messages on an iPhone is a convenient way to communicate with your friends and family. Whether you want to share a quick voice note or send a song snippet, the iPhone makes it easy to do so. In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the steps to send audio messages on your iPhone.

Step 1: Open the Messages App

To get started, unlock your iPhone and locate the Messages app on your home screen. It’s represented by a green speech bubble icon. Tap on it to open the app.

Step 2: Select a Conversation

In the Messages app, select an existing conversation or start a new one by tapping on the “New Message” icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Tap and Hold the Microphone Icon

In the text input area at the bottom of the conversation, you’ll see a microphone icon on the right side. Tap and hold this icon to start recording your audio message.

Step 4: Record Your Audio Message

While holding down the microphone icon, begin speaking into your iPhone’s microphone. You’ll see a sound wave animation indicating that your voice is being recorded. There’s no time limit for recording audio messages, so you can speak as long as you like.

Note:

Make sure to hold your iPhone close enough for clear audio recording.

Step 5: Release to Send

When you’ve finished recording your message, simply release your finger from the microphone icon. The message will be automatically sent to the recipient.

Note:

You can preview your audio message before sending by tapping the play button next to the message. If you’re not satisfied with the recording, you can tap and hold the microphone icon again to re-record.

Step 6: Listen to Audio Messages

When someone sends you an audio message, it will appear as a small waveform icon in the conversation. To listen to the message, simply tap on this icon and it will play automatically.

Note:

If you receive an audio message while your iPhone is on silent mode, it will automatically play aloud.

Step 7: Reply with Audio Messages

To reply with an audio message, follow the same steps as above. Tap and hold the microphone icon, record your message, and release to send.

  • Tip: Using audio messages can be a fun way to communicate and add a personal touch to your conversations.
  • Tip: You can also send audio messages from your Apple Watch by using the Messages app.
