How to Screen Shot on Mac Air

In this tutorial, we will learn how to take a screenshot on Mac Air. Screenshots are a useful way to capture and share information or troubleshoot technical issues. With the help of a few simple keyboard shortcuts, you can easily capture screenshots on your Mac Air.

Capturing the Entire Screen

If you want to capture the entire screen, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure the screen you want to capture is currently displayed on your Mac Air.

  2. Press the Shift, Command, and 3 keys simultaneously.

  3. You will hear a camera shutter sound, indicating that the screenshot has been captured.

  4. The screenshot will be saved as a PNG file on your desktop with a filename in the format “Screen Shot [date] at [time].png”.

Capturing a Portion of the Screen

If you only want to capture a specific portion of the screen, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure the portion of the screen you want to capture is currently displayed on your Mac Air.

  2. Press the Shift, Command, and 4 keys simultaneously.

  3. Your cursor will change into a crosshair symbol.

  4. To select an area, click and drag your mouse over it. As you drag, you will see dimensions displayed in pixels.

  5. To cancel before capturing, press the Escape key.

  6. Release the mouse button to capture the selected area.

Capturing a Specific Window

If you want to capture a specific window, such as an open application or dialog box, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure the window you want to capture is currently active on your Mac Air.

  2. Press the Shift, Command, and 4, followed by the Spacebar, keys simultaneously.

  3. Your cursor will change into a camera symbol.

  4. Move your cursor over the desired window. The window will be highlighted in blue when it is selected.

  5. To capture the window, click your mouse button.

  6. The screenshot of the selected window will be saved as a PNG file on your desktop with a filename in the format “Screen Shot [date] at [time].

Note:

You can also find additional options for capturing screenshots by pressing and holding down the Control key along with any of the above-mentioned keyboard shortcuts. This will copy the screenshot to your clipboard instead of saving it as a file on your desktop. You can then paste it into an image editing software or document directly.
