Screen recording on Mac is a useful feature that allows you to capture your screen activity along with audio. Whether you want to create tutorials, record gameplay, or save online videos, the ability to screen record with audio can be incredibly handy. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of screen recording with audio on Mac.

Step 1: Open QuickTime Player

To start screen recording with audio on Mac, open the QuickTime Player application. You can find it in your Applications folder or by using Spotlight search.

Step 2: Start a New Screen Recording

Once QuickTime Player is open, go to the menu bar and select “File” > “New Screen Recording”. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Command + Control + N.

Note:

If you want to record a specific area of your screen instead of the entire screen, click on the arrow next to the red record button and select “Capture Selected Portion”. This allows you to drag and select the area you want to record.

Step 3: Adjust Audio Settings

Before starting your screen recording, make sure the correct audio source is selected. To do this, click on the small arrow next to the red record button and choose your preferred microphone from the list of available options.

Note:

If you do not see your desired microphone in the list, ensure it is connected properly and recognized by your Mac.

Step 4: Begin Screen Recording

Once your audio settings are configured, click on the red record button to start your screen recording. You can choose whether to include clicks during recording by checking or unchecking “Show Mouse Clicks in Recording” from the same menu.

During the recording, a small control panel will appear at the bottom of your screen. This panel allows you to pause, resume, or stop the recording. You can also click on the “Options” button to enable or disable microphone audio during the recording.

Step 5: End and Save Your Recording

To end your screen recording, simply click on the stop button in the control panel or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Control + Esc. After stopping, QuickTime Player will automatically open a new window with your recorded screen and audio.

Note:

If you made a mistake during your recording and want to start over, you can click on “File” > “New Screen Recording” again to discard your previous recording and start fresh.

Step 6: Trim and Save Your Recording

If you are satisfied with your screen recording, you can trim unnecessary parts before saving it. To trim, drag the yellow handles at either end of the timeline in QuickTime Player’s editing interface to select the desired portion of your recording.

After selecting the desired portion, go to “Edit” > “Trim” or use the keyboard shortcut Command + T. This will remove everything outside of your selected area.

Finally, go to “File” > “Save” or use Command + S to save your screen recording with audio on Mac. Choose a destination folder and name for your file, and click “Save”.
