Once QuickTime Player is open, go to the menu bar at the top of your screen and click on File. From the drop-down menu, select New Screen Recording.
Step 3: Configure Your Recording Settings
A small recording window will appear on your screen. Before you start recording, make sure to configure your recording settings. Click on the arrow next to the record button to access these settings.
Select Audio Source:
If you want to include audio in your video capture, click on the v-shaped dropdown menu next to the record button and choose an audio source. You can select Internal Microphone, External Microphone, or any other available options.
Select Capture Area:
To choose which part of your screen you want to capture, click anywhere within the recording window or drag it over the area you wish to record. You can also select Full Screen if you want to capture everything on your screen.
Enable Mouse Clicks:
If you want to highlight your mouse clicks during the recording, check the box that says Show Mouse Clicks in Recording. This can be helpful for tutorial videos or demonstrations.
Step 4: Start Recording
Once you have configured your settings, click on the record button in the center of the recording window to start capturing your screen.
Step 5: Stop and Save Your Recording
To stop recording, click on the stop button in the menu bar at the top of your screen. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Command + Control + Esc.
Your video capture will automatically open in a new QuickTime Player window. To save it, go to the menu bar and click on File, then select Save... Choose a location on your Mac where you want to save the video and click Save.
- To pause or resume your recording, click on the QuickTime Player icon in your dock and select New Screen Recording. This will bring up the recording window again, and you can either continue recording or start a new one.
- To edit your recorded video, open it in QuickTime Player and go to the menu bar.
From there, you can trim, split, rotate, or add annotations to your video.
