iPhone, Tutorials

Do you ever find yourself wanting to send a message at a specific time, but you’re worried you might forget? Well, luckily for iPhone users, there’s a way to schedule messages ahead of time!

With this feature, you can compose a message and have it automatically sent at the desired date and time. Let’s dive into how to schedule a message on your iPhone.

Step 1: Open the Messages App

To get started, locate and open the Messages app on your iPhone. It’s the green speech bubble icon typically found on your home screen or in your app drawer.

Step 2: Select a Contact

Once you’ve opened the Messages app, select the contact to whom you want to send the scheduled message. You can choose an existing conversation or start a new one by tapping on the “New Message” button in the top-right corner.

Step 3: Compose Your Message

Now it’s time to compose your message. Tap inside the text field at the bottom of the screen and start typing your message. You can include text, emojis, and even images if desired.

Step 4: Long Press on the Send Button

This step is where you’ll find the scheduling option. Instead of simply tapping on the send button (the upward arrow inside a blue circle), long press on it with your finger or stylus.

  • Note:
    • If you’re using an iPhone with 3D Touch capabilities (iPhone 6s or later models), apply firm pressure instead of long pressing.
    • If you’re using an older iPhone without 3D Touch capabilities, you can still access this feature by tapping and holding on the send button for a few seconds.

Step 5: Schedule Your Message

After long pressing on the send button, a Schedule Message menu will appear. Tap on it to proceed to the scheduling options.

Option 1: Select a Suggested Time

If you want to quickly schedule your message for one of the suggested times, tap on the desired option. These suggestions are based on your recent messaging patterns and offer convenient time slots like “Later Today,” “This Evening,” or “Tomorrow Morning.”

Option 2: Choose a Custom Date and Time

If none of the suggested times suit your needs, tap on the “Pick Date & Time” option at the top of the menu. This will open a date and time picker interface that allows you to set a specific date and time for your message to be sent.

Step 6: Confirm Your Scheduled Message

Once you’ve selected either a suggested time or a custom date and time, you’ll be taken back to the conversation screen. Here, you’ll see a banner at the top confirming that your message has been scheduled.

  • Note:
    • You can edit or cancel your scheduled message by tapping on the “Scheduled” banner in the conversation screen.
    • If you want to send an unscheduled message instead, simply tap outside of the scheduling menu without selecting any options.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully learned how to schedule messages on your iPhone.

This handy feature can be a lifesaver when you want to send messages at just the right time without having to remember to do so manually. Enjoy the convenience and organization that scheduling messages brings to your iPhone experience!
