Are you struggling to resize a PDF on your Mac? Look no further, as we have got you covered!

In this tutorial, we will walk you through the step-by-step process of resizing a PDF on your Mac using two different methods. So, let’s dive in!

Method 1: Using Preview

If you are not familiar with it already, Preview is a built-in application on your Mac that allows you to view and make basic edits to various file formats, including PDFs. Here’s how you can use Preview to resize a PDF:

Step 1: Open the PDF in Preview

To begin, locate the PDF file that you want to resize and double-click on it. This will open the file in Preview.

Step 2: Access the Tools

Once the PDF is open in Preview, go to the top menu bar and click on “Tools.” A drop-down menu will appear.

Step 3: Select “Adjust Size”

In the Tools menu, scroll down and select “Adjust Size.” This will open a new window where you can customize the dimensions of your PDF.

Step 4: Resize the PDF

In the Adjust Size window, you can manually enter specific measurements for width and height or choose from predefined options like letter size or A4. Make sure to maintain the aspect ratio by checking the “Scale proportionally” box.

  • Note: If you want to reduce the file size along with resizing, check the “Resample image” box and adjust the resolution accordingly.

Step 5: Save Your Resized PDF

After adjusting the size as desired, click on “OK” to apply the changes. To save the resized PDF, go to “File” in the top menu bar and select “Export.” Choose a location to save your file, give it a name, and click on “Save.”

Method 2: Using Adobe Acrobat Reader

If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your Mac, you can also use it to resize PDFs. Here’s how:

Step 1: Open the PDF in Acrobat Reader

Locate the PDF file you want to resize and double-click on it. This will open the file in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Step 2: Click on “Tools”

In the top menu bar of Adobe Acrobat Reader, click on “Tools.” This will display a list of available tools.

Step 3: Select “Organize Pages”

In the Tools menu, scroll down and select “Organize Pages.” A sidebar with different page manipulation options will appear.

Step 4: Resize the PDF

In the Organize Pages sidebar, click on the “Resize Pages” option. A pop-up window will appear where you can enter new dimensions for your PDF.

  • Note: Similar to Preview, ensure that you maintain aspect ratio by checking the “Keep proportions” box.

Step 5: Save Your Resized PDF

Once you have adjusted the size according to your preference, click on “OK.” To save your resized PDF, go to “File” in the top menu bar and choose “Save As.” Select a location to save your file, provide a name for it, and click on “Save.”

You have now successfully resized a PDF using both Preview and Adobe Acrobat Reader! Feel free to experiment with different dimensions until you achieve the desired size.

Remember, resizing a PDF may affect its overall appearance, so it’s always a good idea to double-check the content and layout of your resized document.
