How to Put a Sticky Note on Desktop Mac

If you are someone who loves to stay organized and jot down important information, then you’ll find the sticky note feature on a Mac desktop incredibly useful. With just a few simple steps, you can create digital sticky notes that will stick right onto your desktop, making it easy to access and remember important information.

Step 1: Accessing the Stickies App

To get started, open the Stickies app on your Mac. You can do this by clicking on the Finder icon in your dock, navigating to Applications, and then locating the Stickies app. Alternatively, you can use the Spotlight Search by pressing Command + Spacebar, typing “Stickies,” and hitting enter.

Step 2: Creating a New Sticky Note

Once you have opened the Stickies app, you can create a new sticky note by clicking on New Note in the menu bar or using the shortcut Command + N. A new blank sticky note will appear on your desktop.

Tips:

  • You can create multiple sticky notes by repeating step 2.
  • To resize a sticky note, hover over its edges until you see a double-sided arrow cursor. Click and drag to adjust its size.
  • To move a sticky note around your desktop, click and drag its title bar.

Step 3: Customizing Your Sticky Note

You can personalize your sticky notes by changing their color or font style. To do this, select the sticky note you want to customize and click on Note in the menu bar. From here, you can choose different colors for your note or adjust the font style and size.

Step 4: Adding Text to Your Sticky Note

To add text to your sticky note, simply click inside the note and start typing. You can format your text using the options in the menu bar, such as making it bold or underlined.

Tips:

  • To make text bold, select the desired text and click on Bold in the menu bar or use the shortcut Command + B.
  • To underline text, select the desired text and click on Underline in the menu bar or use the shortcut Command + U.

Step 5: Saving Your Sticky Notes

The Stickies app automatically saves your notes as you type. However, if you want to manually save a specific note, click on Note in the menu bar and select Save. This will ensure that your sticky notes are preserved even after restarting your Mac.

Congratulations!

You have now learned how to put a sticky note on your desktop Mac. Enjoy staying organized with this convenient feature!

Note: The Stickies app is a built-in application on macOS. If you cannot find it on your Mac, try searching for it in Launchpad or downloading it from the Mac App Store.
