iPhone, Tutorials

Are you tired of being interrupted by unwanted phone calls on your iPhone? Well, you’re in luck because I’m here to teach you how to mute calls on your iPhone.

Whether it’s a telemarketer or an annoying friend, muting calls can provide you with some much-needed peace and quiet. In this tutorial, we will explore different methods to mute incoming calls on your iPhone. So let’s get started!

Mute Calls Using the Side Button

If you want a quick and convenient way to mute incoming calls, the side button on your iPhone can be your best friend. Here’s how:

  1. Step 1:

When receiving an incoming call, instead of tapping the “Accept” or “Decline” buttons on the screen, simply press the side button once.

  2. Step 2:

Your iPhone will now be muted, and the call will continue to ring silently until it goes to voicemail or the caller hangs up.

Mute Calls Using Do Not Disturb Mode

If you want more control over muting calls and notifications, using the Do Not Disturb (DND) mode is a great option. Follow these steps:

  1. Step 1:

Open the Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner of your screen (on newer iPhones) or up from the bottom of your screen (on older iPhones).

  2. Step 2:

    • Note: If you don’t see the Do Not Disturb icon, you may need to add it to your Control Center. To do this, go to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls, and tap the green plus icon next to “Do Not Disturb”.

  3. Step 3:

Tap the crescent moon icon to enable Do Not Disturb mode.

  4. Step 4:

    • Note: By default, Do Not Disturb mode will silence all incoming calls and notifications. However, you can customize its settings by going to Settings > Do Not Disturb.

  5. Step 5:

    • If you want to allow calls from specific contacts while in Do Not Disturb mode, you can enable the “Allow Calls From” option and select your desired contacts.
    • If you want to schedule when your iPhone enters Do Not Disturb mode automatically, you can enable the “Scheduled” option and set your preferred times.
  6. Step 6:

Once enabled, calls will be silenced, and notifications will be suppressed until you manually disable Do Not Disturb mode.

Mute Calls Using Silent Mode

If you prefer a more traditional approach to muting calls, you can use the Silent mode on your iPhone. Here’s how:

  1. Step 1:

Locate the physical switch on the side of your iPhone, just above the volume buttons.

  2. Step 2:

    • If you can see an orange stripe on the switch, it means that your iPhone is in Ring mode. In this case, flip the switch towards the back of your iPhone to activate Silent mode.
    • If there is no orange stripe visible on the switch, it means that your iPhone is already in Silent mode.
  3. Step 3:

Your iPhone is now in Silent mode, and all incoming calls will be silenced. However, keep in mind that notifications and alarms may still make sounds depending on your device settings.

  4. And there you have it! You now know three different methods to mute calls on your iPhone.

Whether you prefer using the side button, Do Not Disturb mode, or Silent mode, rest assured that unwanted interruptions will be a thing of the past. Enjoy some uninterrupted time with your device!
