iPhone, Tutorials

Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to mute a contact on your iPhone? Whether it’s a friend who constantly sends you irrelevant messages or a group chat that’s buzzing non-stop, muting a contact can provide some much-needed peace and quiet.

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to mute a contact on your iPhone. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Open the Messages App

To begin, locate and tap on the Messages app icon on your iPhone’s home screen. The Messages app is represented by a green speech bubble icon and is used for sending text messages.

Step 2: Find the Contact You Want to Mute

In the Messages app, find the conversation with the contact you want to mute. You can scroll through your recent conversations or use the search bar at the top of the screen to quickly locate the contact.

Step 3: Open Contact Options

Tapping on the conversation will open it. Once inside, tap on the “i” icon located in the top right corner of the screen. This will open up additional options for that specific contact.

Step 4: Mute Notifications

In the contact options menu, scroll down until you find an option called “Hide Alerts”. Tapping on this option will prevent any notifications from appearing when this contact sends you a message.

Note:

If you want to completely silence this conversation, including calls and notifications, enable “Do Not Disturb”. This can be done by toggling on “Hide Alerts”, which will make the “Do Not Disturb” option visible. Simply toggle it on to activate the feature.

Step 5: Verify the Mute

Once you’ve muted a contact, you will notice a moon icon next to their name in the Messages app. This indicates that notifications for this contact are muted.

Step 6: Unmuting a Contact

If you ever want to unmute a contact and start receiving notifications again, simply follow steps 1-3 to access the contact options menu. Then toggle off the “Hide Alerts” or “Do Not Disturb” option, depending on your preference.

Note:

If you have multiple contacts muted and want to unmute all of them at once, you can do so by going to Settings > Notifications > Messages > Muted Conversations. From there, you can manage all your muted contacts and unmute them as desired.

In Conclusion

Muting contacts on your iPhone is a convenient way to temporarily silence notifications from specific people or conversations. Whether it’s for personal reasons or simply needing some uninterrupted time, following these easy steps will allow you to regain control over your messages and maintain your peace of mind.

We hope this tutorial was helpful! Happy muting!
