Mac, Tutorials

Are you tired of scrolling through endless conversations in your Mac’s Messages app? Do you want to quickly clear out old text messages and declutter your inbox? In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of mass deleting texts on your Mac using a few simple steps.

Step 1: Open the Messages App

To begin, locate and open the Messages app on your Mac. You can find it in your Applications folder or by using Spotlight search (press Command + Space and type “Messages”).

Step 2: Select Multiple Conversations

Once you have the Messages app open, navigate to the sidebar on the left-hand side of the window. Here, you will see a list of all your conversations. To select multiple conversations for deletion, hold down the Command key on your keyboard while clicking on each conversation you want to delete.

Note:

  • If you want to select all conversations at once, simply press Command + A.
  • If there are specific conversations that you don’t want to delete, hold down the Command key and click on those conversations to deselect them.

Step 3: Delete Selected Conversations

After selecting the desired conversations, right-click (or Control-click) on one of them. This will bring up a contextual menu with various options. From this menu, select “Delete” or press the Delete key on your keyboard.

Note:

You can also access this delete option by clicking on “Edit” in the menu bar at the top of your screen and selecting “Delete” from the drop-down menu.

Step 4: Confirm Deletion

A confirmation dialog box will appear, asking you to confirm the deletion of the selected conversations. To proceed, click on the “Delete” button.

Note:

Once you confirm the deletion, the selected conversations will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Make sure you have backed up any important information before proceeding.

Step 5: Empty Trash

After deleting the conversations, they will be moved to your Trash folder within the Messages app. To permanently remove them from your Mac, click on “File” in the menu bar and select “Empty Trash” from the drop-down menu.

Congratulations!

You have successfully mass deleted texts on your Mac using the Messages app. Now you can enjoy a clutter-free inbox and easily manage your conversations.
