Facebook is a popular social media platform that allows users to connect with friends, family, and colleagues. While it’s a great way to stay connected, you may want to make your Facebook account private on your iPhone to protect your personal information. In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through the steps to make Facebook private on your iPhone.

Step 1: Open the Facebook App

First, locate the Facebook app on your iPhone’s home screen and tap on it to open the app. If you haven’t already logged in, enter your username and password to access your account.

Step 2: Access the Settings

Once you’re logged in, tap on the three horizontal lines at the bottom right corner of the screen. This will open the Facebook menu. Scroll down until you find “Settings & Privacy” and tap on it.

Step 3: Adjust Privacy Settings

In the “Settings & Privacy” menu, tap on “Privacy Shortcuts”. Here, you’ll find options to control who can see your posts, who can contact you, and more.

Social Media Visibility

To begin with, tap on “Privacy Checkup” under “Privacy Shortcuts”. This will take you through a series of steps that will help you review and update your privacy settings.

  • Review Your Posts: This option allows you to review all posts that are visible to others. You can choose who can see each post individually or set a default audience for all future posts.
  • Edit Your Profile: Tap on this option to review what information is visible on your profile and adjust privacy settings accordingly.

You can choose who can see details such as your email address, phone number, and more.

  • Apps and Websites: This option lets you review and control which apps and websites have access to your Facebook account information. You can remove any unwanted connections or adjust privacy settings for existing ones.

Contact and Basic Info

To further enhance your privacy, go back to the “Privacy Shortcuts” menu and tap on “Privacy Checkup” again. This time, select “Contact and Basic Info”. Here, you can control who can see your contact information such as your email address, phone number, birthday, and more.

  • Edit Your Phone Number: Tap on this option to choose who can see your phone number. You can limit visibility to only yourself or a select group of friends.
  • Edit Your Email Address: Similar to the previous step, here you can control who has access to your email address. Choose from options like only me, friends, or custom settings.
  • Edit Your Birthday: If you don’t want everyone on Facebook knowing your birthday, tap on this option to adjust the visibility settings.

Step 4: Review App Permissions

In addition to adjusting privacy settings within the Facebook app itself, it’s important to review app permissions for third-party apps that are connected to your Facebook account. To do this:

  • Open Settings: Exit the Facebook app and go back to your iPhone’s home screen. Locate the “Settings” app (gray gears icon) and tap on it.
  • Select Facebook: In the Settings menu, scroll down until you find “Facebook” and tap on it.
  • Review Permissions: Here, you’ll see a list of apps that are connected to your Facebook account. Tap on each app to review and adjust the permissions.

By following these steps, you can make your Facebook account private on your iPhone and have better control over who sees your posts and personal information. Remember to periodically review your privacy settings to ensure they align with your preferences.

Now you’re ready to take control of your Facebook privacy on your iPhone! Enjoy using the platform while keeping your personal information safe and secure.
