Do you often find yourself getting distracted by the endless stream of videos on YouTube while trying to focus on something important? If you’re an iPhone user, there’s a simple solution to help you stay focused and avoid the temptation of YouTube: locking the YouTube screen. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to do just that.

Locking the YouTube Screen on iPhone

If you want to prevent yourself from mindlessly scrolling through YouTube videos and maintain your productivity, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the YouTube App

To get started, locate the YouTube app on your iPhone’s home screen and tap on it. The app icon features a red play button inside a white rectangle.

Step 2: Find a Video to Watch

Once the app is open, use the search bar at the top of the screen or browse through the recommended videos to find a video that you want to watch. Tap on it to start playing.

Step 3: Enable Guided Access

To lock the YouTube screen and prevent any further interaction with your device, we’ll be using a feature called Guided Access. To enable it, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings: Exit the YouTube app by pressing the home button or swiping up from the bottom of the screen. Locate and tap on “Settings” – it’s represented by a gray gear icon.
  2. Navigate to Accessibility: In the Settings menu, scroll down and tap on “Accessibility.

  3. Select Guided Access: Inside Accessibility settings, scroll down again and find “Guided Access.” Tap on it.
  4. Toggle Guided Access On: On the Guided Access screen, flip the switch to enable it. You can also customize additional options here, such as disabling touch or motion.

Step 4: Begin Guided Access

Now that you’ve enabled Guided Access, it’s time to start using it. Return to the YouTube app by pressing the home button once or swiping up from the bottom of the screen and selecting the YouTube app.

To initiate Guided Access:

  1. Triple-Press Home Button (or Side Button): Quickly press the home button (for iPhones with a home button) or the side button (for iPhones without a home button) three times in succession. This will bring up the Guided Access options.
  2. Select “Start”: At the top-right corner of your screen, tap on “Start” to enter Guided Access mode.

This will effectively lock your iPhone’s screen on the YouTube app, preventing you from navigating away or interacting with anything else on your device.

Step 5: Exiting Guided Access

If you want to exit Guided Access and regain full access to your device, follow these steps:

  1. Triple-Press Home Button (or Side Button): Triple-press either the home button or side button again to bring up the Guided Access options.
  2. Enter Passcode: If you’ve set up a passcode for Guided Access, enter it when prompted.
  3. Select “End”: In the top-left corner of the screen, tap on “End” to exit Guided Access mode.

And that’s it! You’ve successfully learned how to lock the YouTube screen on your iPhone using Guided Access.

By following these steps, you can now stay focused and avoid distractions from YouTube while still being able to watch your chosen video. Remember, this feature can be useful for other apps as well, so feel free to explore Guided Access further for enhanced productivity!
