Mac, Tutorials

Do you have a bunch of amazing videos on your iPhone that you want to transfer to your Mac? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! In this tutorial, we will walk you through the process of importing videos from your iPhone to your Mac with ease.

Step 1: Connect Your iPhone to Your Mac

The first step is to connect your iPhone to your Mac using the USB cable that came with it. Once connected, make sure your iPhone is unlocked and tap “Trust” on the prompt that appears on your iPhone screen. This allows the Mac to access your device.

Step 2: Launch the Photos App

Now, open the Photos app on your Mac. You can find it in the Applications folder or by using Spotlight search (Cmd + Spacebar).

Step 3: Import Videos

To import videos from your iPhone, click on the “Import” tab located in the top toolbar of the Photos app. If you have multiple devices connected, select your iPhone from the list of available devices.

Note: You can also use the shortcut Cmd + Shift + I instead of clicking on the “Import” tab.

Select Videos

A new window will appear showing all the videos available for import. By default, all videos are selected for import. If you only want to import specific videos, simply uncheck those that you don’t want to transfer.

Choose Import Destination

You can choose whether to import videos directly into an existing album or create a new album. To create a new album, click on “New Album” and give it a name. To import into an existing album, select an album from the drop-down menu.

Tip: If you want to keep your imported videos organized, creating a new album is a great way to do it.

Start Importing

Once you have selected the videos and chosen the import destination, click on the “Import Selected” button. The Photos app will start importing the selected videos from your iPhone to your Mac. The progress of the import will be displayed on the screen.

Step 4: Access Your Imported Videos

After the import is complete, you can find your imported videos in the “Imports” album under the “Albums” tab in the Photos app. From there, you can view, edit, and organize your videos as desired.

Step 5: Safely Disconnect Your iPhone

Once you have successfully imported your videos, it’s important to safely disconnect your iPhone from your Mac. To do this, simply click on the eject button next to your iPhone’s name in the sidebar of the Photos app. Once ejected, you can safely unplug your device from the USB cable.

  • Note: It’s always a good practice to eject your device before disconnecting it to avoid any data corruption or loss.
  • Note: The imported videos are now stored on your Mac, so feel free to delete them from your iPhone if you need more storage space.

Congratulations! You have successfully imported videos from your iPhone to your Mac using the Photos app. Now you can enjoy watching and editing them on a bigger screen!
