In this tutorial, we will learn how to hide photos on Mac using a few simple steps. Whether you want to keep your personal photos private or hide some sensitive images, Mac provides a built-in feature that allows you to easily hide photos from prying eyes.

Step 1: Create a New Folder

The first step is to create a new folder where you will move the photos you want to hide. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Click on the Finder icon in your dock to open a Finder window.
  • Navigate to the location where you want to create the new folder (e.g., Documents, Pictures).
  • Right-click on an empty space and select New Folder from the context menu.
  • Rename the folder to something inconspicuous, like “Hidden Photos”.

Step 2: Move Photos into the Hidden Folder

Now that you have created a hidden folder, it’s time to move your photos into it:

  • Select the photos you want to hide by holding down the Command key.
  • Drag and drop the selected photos into the newly created “Hidden Photos” folder.
  • Delete the original copies of these photos from their current location (e., Pictures).

Step 3: Enable Hidden Folders in Finder Preferences

In order for your hidden folder and its contents to remain concealed, you need to enable the option to show hidden folders in Finder:

  • Click on the Finder icon in your dock to open a Finder window.
  • Click on the Finder menu at the top of your screen and select Preferences.
  • Navigate to the Sidebar tab.
  • Check the box next to “Hidden folders” under the “Show these items in the sidebar” section.

Step 4: Access Your Hidden Photos

You have successfully hidden your photos, and now it’s time to access them:

  • Navigate to any Finder window.
  • In the menu bar, click on “Go” and select “Go to Folder”. Alternatively, press Shift + Command + G.
  • Type in the path of your hidden folder (e., ~/Documents/Hidden Photos) and click “Go”.
  • Your hidden folder will appear, allowing you to access your hidden photos.

If you want an even more secure way of hiding your photos, consider using third-party applications or encryption software specifically designed for this purpose. These applications offer additional features such as password protection and advanced encryption algorithms.

Congratulations! You have successfully learned how to hide photos on Mac using built-in features. Now you can keep your private photos away from prying eyes while maintaining easy access whenever you need them.
