Do you want to keep your messages private on your Mac? Whether you have sensitive conversations or just want to maintain your privacy, hiding messages can be a useful feature. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to hide messages on your Mac.

Step 1: Open Messages App

To get started, launch the Messages app on your Mac. You can find it in the Applications folder or by using Spotlight search.

Step 2: Select Conversation

Click on the conversation that contains the message(s) you want to hide. This will open up the conversation thread.

Step 3: Hide Individual Messages

If you want to hide a specific message within a conversation, right-click on the message and select “Hide” from the context menu. The message will disappear from view.

Step 4: Hide Entire Conversations

If you prefer to hide an entire conversation, click on the “Details” button located at the top-right corner of the Messages window. It looks like a small “i” inside a circle.

  • A sidebar will appear showing information about the conversation.
  • Scroll down and locate the “Hide Alerts” option.
  • Select the checkbox next to “Hide Alerts”. This will prevent any notifications from appearing for this specific conversation.

If someone sends you new messages in this hidden conversation, they won’t trigger any alerts or banner notifications. However, they will still appear within the Messages app itself.

Bonus Tip: Unhide Conversations

If you want to unhide a conversation or message, simply click on the “Details” button again and uncheck the “Hide Alerts” option. The conversation or message will reappear as usual.

And there you have it! You now know how to hide messages on your Mac.

Whether you want to keep your conversations private or maintain a clutter-free Messages app, this feature can be incredibly useful. Try it out today!

I hope you found this tutorial helpful. Stay tuned for more tips and tricks for your Mac!
