Mac, Tutorials

Have you ever received a PDF form on your Mac and wondered how to fill it out without having to print it? Well, you’re in luck! In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of filling out a PDF form on your Mac using the built-in Preview application.

Step 1: Open the PDF Form
First, locate the PDF form that needs to be filled out and double-click on it to open it in Preview. Alternatively, you can right-click on the file and choose “Open With” > “Preview”.

Step 2: Select the Text Tool
Once the PDF form is open in Preview, click on the “Show Markup Toolbar” button located at the top of the window. This will reveal a toolbar with various editing options. Click on the “Text” button to select the Text tool for entering text into the form fields.

Step 3: Fill Out Text Fields
With the Text tool selected, click inside a text field in the PDF form where you want to enter your information. Type in your desired text, and if needed, use keyboard shortcuts like Command + B to make it bold, or Command + U to underline it.

Step 4: Checkboxes and Radio Buttons
If your PDF form contains checkboxes or radio buttons, simply click on them to select or deselect them. You can also use keyboard shortcuts like Spacebar to toggle between options.

Step 5: Signature Fields
For forms that require a signature, Preview allows you to create a digital signature using your trackpad or camera. To create a signature with your trackpad, click on “Show Markup Toolbar”, then click on “Sign” > “Trackpad”.

Follow the instructions provided and use your finger or stylus to draw your signature. To create a signature using your camera, click on “Sign” > “Camera”, and hold up a piece of paper with your signature to the camera.

Step 6: Save and Submit
Once you have filled out all the necessary fields in the PDF form, it’s time to save your changes. Simply go to “File” > “Save” or use the Command + S shortcut.

If you want to keep a copy of the original form as well, choose “Save As” instead. You can now close the PDF form and send it back by email or any other means required.

Congratulations! You have successfully filled out a PDF form on your Mac using Preview.
