How to Download Google Chrome on Mac

Step 1: Open Safari

Step 2: Go to Google Chrome Website

Once Safari is open, type “Google Chrome” in the search bar or directly enter “” in the address bar. This will take you to the official Google Chrome website.

Step 3: Download Google Chrome

On the Google Chrome website, you will find a big blue button with the text “Download Chrome.” Click on this button.

If prompted, review and accept the Terms of Service. Afterwards, a file named “googlechrome.dmg” will begin downloading onto your Mac.

Step 4: Locate and Open the Downloaded File

Once the download is complete, locate the “googlechrome.dmg” file. You can usually find it in your Downloads folder or at the bottom of your browser window.

Note: If you are unable to find the downloaded file, press Command (⌘) + Option (⌥) + L to open your Downloads folder instantly.

Double-click on the file to open it. This will mount a virtual disk image with a name similar to “GoogleChrome.dmg”. A new window will appear showing several files and folders.

Step 5: Install Google Chrome

Drag and drop the Google Chrome icon into the Applications folder icon. This will begin the installation process.

You may be prompted to enter your administrator password. If so, provide the necessary credentials and click “OK” to proceed.

A progress bar will appear, indicating the installation status. Once it reaches 100%, you can proceed to the next step.

Step 6: Open Google Chrome

Now that Google Chrome is successfully installed on your Mac, you can find it in your Applications folder. To open it, simply click on the Launchpad icon (the spaceship) in your dock, search for “Google Chrome,” and click on its icon.
