If you prefer exploring emojis visually and selecting them from a comprehensive list, then using the Character Viewer might be more suitable for you.

  1. Step 5:

    • a)
      • Click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen.

      • Select ‘System Preferences. ‘

      • Choose ‘Keyboard.

      • Go to the ‘Keyboard’ tab.

      • Check the box that says ‘Show keyboard and emoji viewers in menu bar. ‘

  2. b)
    • Click on the new icon that appears in your menu bar, resembling a keyboard or a flag.

    • Select ‘Show Emoji and Symbols. ‘

A Character Viewer window will open, displaying various categories on the left side and emojis on the right side. You can click on any emoji to insert it into your text.

Method 3: Using Shortcuts

If you frequently use specific emojis, you can assign shortcuts for them to save time and effort.

  1. Step 8:
      a)

        i)

Navigate to ‘System Preferences’ > ‘Keyboard’ > ‘Text.’

Click on the ‘+’ button at the bottom left of the list.

Type the emoji you want to assign a shortcut for in the ‘Replace’ field.

Copy and paste the emoji from somewhere else if necessary.

        ii)

Assign a memorable shortcut in the ‘With’ field.

For example, if you want to use ‘’ as a shortcut for 😀, type ‘’ in the ‘With’ field.

      b)

      • Click on ‘Add’ to save the shortcut.

Now, whenever you type the shortcut you assigned, it will automatically replace it with the corresponding emoji.

These are three simple methods to access and use emojis on your Mac. Whether you prefer using keyboard shortcuts or exploring emojis visually, Mac offers versatile options to enhance your messaging experience. So go ahead and add some flair to your conversations with emojis!
