iPhone, Tutorials

Welcome to this tutorial on how to do a 3-way call on your iPhone! Having the ability to connect with multiple people in a single call can be incredibly useful for both personal and professional purposes.

In this article, we will guide you through the steps of setting up and conducting a 3-way call using your iPhone. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Place Your First Call

To initiate a 3-way call, you need to start by making your first call. Open the Phone app on your iPhone and dial the number of the first person you want to include in the call. Once the call is connected, you’re ready to move on to the next step.

Step 2: Add Another Person

Now that you have your first call connected, it’s time to add another person to create a 3-way conference call. To do this, look for the “Add Call” button located on the screen during an ongoing call. Tap on it, and this will put your current caller on hold while you dial or search for the second person’s phone number.

If you already have the second person’s number saved in your contacts, tap on the “Contacts” tab at the bottom of the screen and find their name. Then tap on their name and select “Call” to dial their number.

If you don’t have their number saved, tap on the “Keypad” tab at the bottom of the screen and manually enter their phone number. Once entered, tap “Call” to initiate a new call with them.

Step 3: Merge Calls

After placing your second call, wait for it to connect. Once connected, you’ll see two separate calls displayed on your screen—one labeled as “Hold” (representing the first call you placed) and the other as “Calling” (representing the second call you made).

Now it’s time to merge the two calls into a single 3-way conference call. Look for the “Merge Calls” button on your screen and tap on it. This will bring all participants, including yourself, into one conversation.

Step 4: Repeat for Additional Participants

If you wish to add more participants to your 3-way call, repeat steps 2 and 3. After merging each new call, all participants will be able to hear and speak with each other simultaneously.

Step 5: End the 3-Way Call

Once you’re ready to end the conference call, simply tap on the “End Call” button as you normally would when ending a regular phone call. Hanging up will disconnect all participants from the call.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Switching Between Calls: During a 3-way call, you can switch between callers by tapping on their name or number displayed on your screen.
  • Private Conversations: If you need to have a private conversation with one participant without others hearing, tap on the “Private” button next to their name. This will put other participants on hold while allowing you to have a separate conversation.
  • Dropping Participants: If you want to remove a specific participant from the conference call while keeping others connected, tap on the “i” button next to their name and select “End Call.”

Congratulations! You now know how to make a 3-way call on your iPhone.

This feature can come in handy for work-related discussions, group conversations, and more. Enjoy the convenience of connecting with multiple people at once using your iPhone!
