How to Delete Messages App on Mac

Step 1: Close the Messages App

Note:

If prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, enter your password or provide confirmation to proceed with the deletion.

Step 6: Empty Trash

To completely remove the Messages app from your Mac and free up space on your hard drive, you need to empty the Trash. Right-click on the Trash icon in your Dock and choose “Empty Trash”. Alternatively, you can click on “Finder” in the top menu bar, select “Empty Trash”, and confirm your action.

That’s it! The Messages app has been successfully deleted from your Mac. You have successfully freed up space on your hard drive by removing an application you no longer need.

Note:

Deleting an application is a permanent action. Make sure you do not have any important data or conversations stored within the Messages app before proceeding with this tutorial.
