Are you tired of scrolling through a long list of duplicate contacts on your iPhone? Duplicate contacts can make it difficult to find the right person when you need to make a call or send a message.

Thankfully, there’s an easy way to clean up your contact list and delete those duplicates. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to delete duplicate contacts on iPhone.

Step 1: Open the Contacts App

To get started, locate and tap on the Contacts app on your iPhone’s home screen. This app is represented by an icon with a Silhouette of a person.

Step 2: Tap on “Groups”

Once you have opened the Contacts app, look for the Groups button located at the top-left corner of the screen and tap on it. This will bring up a list of available contact groups.

Note:

If you are using iCloud to sync your contacts, make sure that the All iCloud option is selected.

Step 3: Select “Show All Contacts”

In the Groups view, ensure that the Show All Contacts option is selected. This will display all of your contacts from various sources in one consolidated list.

Step 4: Identify Duplicate Contacts

Scroll through your contact list and carefully review each entry to identify duplicate contacts. Pay attention to details such as names, numbers, and email addresses that appear more than once.

Tips:

  • Bold text: Use bold text to emphasize important tips or key points throughout this process.
  • List: Consider creating a checklist of items to look out for when identifying duplicate contacts.

Step 5: Merge Duplicate Contacts

Once you have identified a duplicate contact, tap on it to open the contact details. Scroll down to the bottom of the contact card and tap on the Edit button.

Note:

If you have multiple duplicate contacts, start with merging two contacts at a time to avoid confusion.

Step 6: Tap on “Link Contacts”

In the Edit view, scroll down until you see the Link Contacts option. Tap on it to proceed.

Step 7: Select the Duplicate Contact

A list of suggested contacts will appear. Tap on the contact that you want to merge with the current one. This will link both contacts together and consolidate their information.

Note:

If the desired duplicate contact doesn’t appear in the suggested list, use the search bar at the top of the screen to manually find and select it.

Step 8: Save Changes

After linking contacts, tap on Done at the top-right corner of the screen to save your changes. The duplicate contact should now be merged with its counterpart, eliminating any unnecessary duplicates.

Tips:

  • Bold text: Use bold text to highlight important actions or buttons throughout this process.
  • List: Consider creating a step-by-step checklist for easy reference as you go through each duplicate contact.

Congratulations!

You have successfully cleaned up your contact list by deleting duplicate contacts on your iPhone. Repeat the above steps for any remaining duplicates until your contact list is tidy and organized.

Remember, keeping your contact list free from duplicates not only makes it easier to find the right person but also helps you manage your contacts more efficiently. Now go ahead and enjoy a clutter-free iPhone experience!
