Sending text messages has become an integral part of our daily communication. Sometimes, in the rush of typing and sending messages, we may regret sending a particular message.

Fortunately, with an iPhone, you have the ability to delete sent text messages. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to delete a sent text message on your iPhone.

Step 1: Open the Messages App

To begin, locate and open the Messages app on your iPhone’s home screen. The Messages app is represented by a green speech bubble icon.

Step 2: Select the Conversation

In the Messages app, locate the conversation that contains the sent text message you want to delete. Tap on it to open the conversation.

Step 3: Locate the Sent Message

Scroll through the conversation until you find the sent text message that you wish to delete. Once you have located it, tap and hold on the message until a menu appears above it.

Note:

If your iPhone is running iOS 13 or later, instead of tapping and holding on the message, swipe left on it to reveal options.

Step 4: Delete the Sent Message

In the menu that appears above or after swiping left on the sent message, select “More”. This will enable multi-selection mode for your messages.

  • Select Multiple Messages:
  • If you want to delete multiple sent messages at once, tap on each additional message that you wish to delete. Each selected message will be highlighted with a blue checkmark.

  • Select All Messages:
  • If you want to delete all sent messages in the conversation, tap on “Select All” at the top-left corner of the screen. This will select all messages in the conversation, including the sent message you wish to delete.

  • Delete the Message:
  • Once you have selected the sent message(s) you want to delete, tap on the trash can icon at the bottom-left corner of the screen. A confirmation prompt will appear asking if you want to delete the selected message(s). Tap “Delete Message” to confirm and permanently remove them from your iPhone.

Step 5: Verify Deletion

After deleting the sent message(s), you will be redirected back to the conversation view. The deleted message(s) will no longer be visible in the chat history. To confirm that they have been successfully deleted, scroll through the conversation and ensure that they are no longer present.
