How to Crop Image on Mac
Are you looking to crop an image on your Mac but not sure how to do it? Well, you’ve come to the right place! In this tutorial, we will guide you through the step-by-step process of cropping an image on your Mac using the built-in Preview app.
Step 1: Open the Image in Preview
To begin, locate the image file that you want to crop on your Mac and double-click it. This will open the image in the Preview app.
Step 2: Select the Crop Tool
Once the image is open in Preview, click on the “Show Markup Toolbar” button located at the top right corner of the window. This will reveal a toolbar with various editing tools.
Next, click on the “Crop” tool icon, which looks like a square with dashed lines around it. You can find it in the toolbar or press “Command + K” as a shortcut.
Step 3: Adjust the Crop Area
After selecting the Crop tool, your cursor will turn into a crosshair. Click and drag anywhere on the image to create a selection box around the area you want to keep. You can adjust this selection by clicking and dragging its edges or corners.
Tips:
- To maintain aspect ratio: Hold down the Shift key while resizing.
- To move the selection: Click and drag inside the selection area.
- To rotate or straighten: Move your cursor outside of the selection until it turns into a curved arrow cursor. Then click and drag to rotate or straighten the image.
Step 4: Crop the Image
Once you are satisfied with the selection, click on the “Crop” button in the toolbar or press “Command + K” to crop the image. The area outside of your selection will be removed, and you will be left with the cropped image.
Step 5: Save the Cropped Image
Finally, go to the “File” menu and select “Save” (or press “Command + S”) to save your cropped image. You can choose a new name and location for the file if desired.
