iPhone, Tutorials

Creating a new folder on your iPhone can help you keep your apps organized and easily accessible. With just a few simple steps, you can have a new folder up and running in no time. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of creating a new folder on your iPhone.

Step 1: Unlock your iPhone

The first step is to unlock your iPhone by pressing the home button or using Face ID or Touch ID.

Step 2: Find the app you want to add to a folder

Look for the app that you want to move into a folder. You can find it on the home screen or by swiping left or right to navigate through different pages of apps.

Step 3: Enter edit mode

To enter edit mode, tap and hold the app icon until it starts jiggling. This indicates that you are now able to move and organize your apps.

Step 4: Move the app onto another app

Drag the app icon onto another app that you want to include in the same folder. As you drag the icon, you will notice that other apps start moving around, creating space for the new folder.

Note:

If there’s no suitable app nearby, you can also move an app onto an existing folder to create a new one within it.

Step 5: Release your finger

Once you have positioned the app icon onto another app or an existing folder, release your finger from the screen. This action will automatically create a new folder containing both apps.

Note:

You can add additional apps to this newly created folder following steps 3-5 above.

Step 6: Rename the folder

To rename the folder and give it a more descriptive name, tap on the folder to enter it. You will see a field with the default name at the top of the screen. Tap on this field and use the on-screen keyboard to type in your desired name.

Note:

Make sure to choose a name that reflects the category or purpose of the apps within the folder. This will make it easier for you to locate and access them later.

Step 7: Exit edit mode

To exit edit mode and save your changes, press the home button or swipe up from the bottom of the screen if you have an iPhone X or newer model. Your new folder is now created and ready to use!

Note:

You can always rearrange apps within a folder, move them out of a folder, or delete the folder entirely by entering edit mode again.

Congratulations! You have successfully created a new folder on your iPhone.

By organizing your apps into folders, you can declutter your home screen and find what you need more efficiently. Enjoy your newly organized iPhone!
