In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of creating folders in Gmail on your Android phone.

Step 1: Open the Gmail App

If you haven’t already, open the Gmail app on your Android phone. You can find the app icon in your app drawer or on your home screen.

Step 2: Access the Sidebar

To access the sidebar where you can find all the options for managing your emails, tap on the hamburger menu icon (three horizontal lines) located at the top-left corner of the screen.

Step 3: Navigate to Labels

In the sidebar, scroll down and find the “Labels” section. Tap on it to expand a list of label options.

Step 4: Create a New Label

To create a new folder, tap on the “Create new” option at the bottom of the label list. A pop-up window will appear.

Name Your Folder

In the pop-up window, enter a name for your folder in the text field provided. Choose a descriptive name that reflects what type of emails you plan to store in this folder.

Add Sublabels (Optional)

If you want to create subfolders within this main folder, you can do so by tapping on “Add sublabels.” This will allow you to further categorize and organize your emails within specific subfolders.

Select Visibility Options (Optional)

By default, any new folders you create are visible under both “Labels” and “Categories.” However, if you want to hide the folder from either of these sections, you can toggle off the visibility options as per your preference.

Tap Create

Once you have entered the folder name and made any desired adjustments, tap on the “Create” button to finalize the creation of your new folder.

Step 5: Access Your New Folder

To access your newly created folder, go back to the main Gmail screen. In the sidebar, scroll down to find the “Labels” section again. Your new folder will now be listed here.

Step 6: Move Emails to Your Folder

To move emails to your newly created folder, open an email that you want to move. Tap on the three-dot menu icon located at the top-right corner of the screen. In the menu that appears, select “Move to” and then choose your desired folder from the list.

Step 7: View Emails in Your Folder

To view emails within your new folder, simply tap on its name in the sidebar. This will display all emails that have been moved or labeled with that particular folder.
