How to Compress Video on iPhone
Do you find yourself running out of storage space on your iPhone due to large video files? Don’t worry, you can easily compress videos on your iPhone to save space without compromising too much on quality. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps on how to compress videos directly on your iPhone.
Step 1: Open the Photos App
First, locate and open the Photos app on your iPhone. This is where all your photos and videos are stored.
Step 2: Choose the Video
Select the video that you want to compress from your Camera Roll or any other album within the Photos app.
Step 3: Tap Edit
Once you have selected the desired video, tap on the “Edit” button located at the top-right corner of the screen. This will open up the editing options for that particular video.
Step 4: Adjust Video Settings
At the bottom of the screen, you will see a row of editing tools. Tap on the “..” (More) button, which will reveal additional options for editing.
Trimming and Cropping
If you wish to trim or crop your video before compressing it, you can do so by adjusting the yellow sliders or tapping on “Crop” respectively. However, keep in mind that trimming or cropping may not significantly reduce file size.
Compressing Video
To compress your video, tap on “Adjust” within the More menu. Here, you can adjust various settings such as exposure, brightness, and contrast. Scroll down until you find “Resizing” under “Video” and tap on it.
Step 5: Choose a Lower Resolution
In the Resizing section, you will find options to choose a lower resolution for your video. By default, it is set to “HD – 1080p at 30 fps.”
Tap on it to see other available options such as “720p at 30 fps” or “480p at 30 fps. “
Note: Keep in mind that selecting a lower resolution will result in a smaller file size but may also reduce video quality.
Step 6: Save the Compressed Video
After selecting the desired resolution, tap on the “Done” button located at the bottom-right corner of the screen. This will save your changes and compress the video accordingly.
Exporting Options
If you wish to share the compressed video with someone or save it to another location, you can tap on the “Share” icon located below the video preview. From there, you can choose various export options such as AirDrop, Messages, Mail, or Save Video.
Congratulations!
You have successfully compressed a video on your iPhone! Now you can free up valuable storage space without having to delete your precious memories.
- Tips:
- If you are unsure about which resolution to choose, start with a slightly lower one and preview the result before saving.
- Remember that compressing videos may result in some loss of quality. It’s always a good idea to keep a backup of your original videos if you want to retain their highest quality.
- If you frequently need to compress videos on your iPhone, consider using third-party apps from the App Store that offer more advanced compression options and settings.
That’s it! Now you can easily compress videos on your iPhone and make the most out of your storage space.
