Mac, Tutorials

In this tutorial, we will learn how to combine multiple PDFs into one on Mac. Combining PDFs can be useful when you have several documents that you want to merge into a single file for easier management or sharing. Fortunately, Mac provides a built-in feature that allows you to accomplish this task without the need for any additional software.

Step 1: Open Preview

To get started, open the Preview application on your Mac. You can find it in the Applications folder or by searching for it using Spotlight.

Step 2: Open the First PDF

In the Preview app, click on File in the menu bar and select Open. Locate and select the first PDF document that you want to combine with others and click on the Open button.

Step 3: View Thumbnails Sidebar

In Preview, click on View in the menu bar and select Show Thumbnails. This will open a sidebar displaying thumbnail previews of each page in the currently opened PDF document.

Step 4: Open Additional PDFs as Thumbnails

To add more PDFs to combine, simply drag and drop them from Finder into the sidebar with thumbnails already open in Preview. This will add them as additional pages in the combined PDF.

Note:

  • You can rearrange pages by dragging and dropping their thumbnails within the sidebar.
  • If necessary, you can also remove unwanted pages by selecting their thumbnails and pressing the Delete key on your keyboard.
  • If you want to include only specific pages from a PDF, you can open that document separately and delete the unwanted pages before adding it to the combined PDF.

Step 5: Save the Combined PDF

Once you have added all the desired PDFs and arranged them in the desired order, click on File in the menu bar and select Save. Choose a location on your Mac where you want to save the combined PDF file, provide a filename, and click on Save.

Congratulations!

You have successfully combined multiple PDFs into one on your Mac using the built-in Preview application. This method not only saves time but also eliminates the need for third-party software. Now you can easily manage and share your documents in a single file.
