Step 1: Accessing System Preferences

The first step is to open System Preferences. To do this, click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen and select “System Preferences” from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: Selecting “Users & Groups”

In the System Preferences window, locate and click on the “Users & Groups” icon. This will open a new window with user account information.

Step 3: Unlocking User Preferences

To make changes to your password, you need to unlock user preferences. Click on the lock icon in the bottom-left corner of the window and enter your current password when prompted.

Step 4: Selecting Your User Account

After unlocking user preferences, select your user account from the left-hand sidebar. This will display various options related to your account.

Step 5: Changing Your Password

In this step, you can finally change your password. Click on the “Change Password” button located below your account information.

Password Requirements:

  • Password Length: Your new password must be at least 8 characters long.
  • Password Complexity: It is recommended to use a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters for added security.

Note:

Your new password should be unique and not easily guessable by others. Avoid using common passwords or personal information that can be easily associated with you.

Step 6: Confirming Your Changes

After entering your new password, you will be prompted to confirm it. Type the new password again in the “Verify” field to ensure accuracy.

Step 7: Saving Your New Password

Once you have confirmed your new password, click on the “Change Password” button to save your changes. You will see a confirmation message indicating that your password has been successfully updated.

Step 8: Logging Out and Logging Back In

To ensure that your new password takes effect, log out of your Mac Book and then log back in using your newly changed password.

Note:

If you use iCloud Keychain or any other password management software, make sure to update those passwords as well to keep all your accounts secure.
