iPhone, Tutorials

In this tutorial, we will learn how to call an extension on an iPhone.

Step 1: Open the Phone App

To call an extension on your iPhone, start by opening the Phone app. This app is usually located on your home screen and has a green icon with a white phone receiver.

Step 2: Dial the Main Phone Number

Next, dial the main phone number of the person or business you want to reach. This is the primary number that you would typically dial to contact them.

  • If you don’t know the main phone number, you can find it on their website or in a directory.
  • Make sure to include any area codes or country codes if necessary.

Step 3: Add the Extension

Once you have dialed the main phone number, wait for the call to connect. After connecting, you will typically hear a voice prompt asking you to enter an extension if required.

  • If you are unsure whether an extension is required or not, you can listen carefully to any automated instructions provided during the call.
  • If there is no voice prompt or if you need to enter multiple extensions (for example, for different departments), use the following steps.

Step 4: Tap ‘Keypad’

To add an extension manually, tap on the “Keypad” tab at the bottom of your screen. This will bring up a numeric keypad where you can enter numbers and symbols.

Step 5: Enter Extension Number

Using the keypad, enter the extension number of the person or department you wish to reach. Make sure to enter the extension accurately to ensure your call is routed correctly.

  • If the extension includes letters, refer to a phone keypad for their corresponding numbers (e.g., A=2, B=2, C=2).
  • If you make frequent calls to this extension, you can also save it as a contact in your phonebook for easy access in the future.

Step 6: Press ‘Call’

Finally, press the “Call” button or icon on your screen to initiate the call with the entered extension. Your iPhone will now dial both the main phone number and the extension number simultaneously.

Congratulations! You have successfully called an extension on your iPhone. By following these steps, you can easily reach specific individuals or departments without having to navigate through automated menus manually.
