How to Bypass Mac Password

Forgetting your Mac password can be a frustrating experience, but fear not! In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of bypassing your Mac password.

Please note that this method should only be used if you have forgotten your own password and have no other means of accessing your Mac. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Restart Your Mac in Recovery Mode

To begin the password bypass process, you need to restart your Mac in Recovery Mode. Follow these steps:

  • Click on the Apple menu icon located at the top left corner of your screen.
  • Select “Restart” from the drop-down menu.
  • While your Mac is restarting, press and hold the “Command” and “R” keys simultaneously until you see the Apple logo or a spinning globe.

  • Release the keys once you see the logo or globe.
  • Wait for your Mac to boot into Recovery Mode.

Step 2: Access Terminal

Once your Mac has successfully booted into Recovery Mode, you’ll need to open Terminal. Follow these steps:

  • In the macOS Utilities window, click on “Utilities” located in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “Terminal.”

  • The Terminal window will now appear on your screen.

Step 3: Change Your User Account Password

Now that you have access to Terminal, it’s time to change your user account password. Execute these commands carefully:

  1. Type resetpassword in the Terminal window and press “Return.”
  2. A “Reset Password” window will appear. Select your startup disk and the user account whose password you want to change.
  3. Enter a new password for your user account and confirm it.

You can also add a hint to help you remember your password in the future.

  4. Click on “Save” to apply the changes.
  5. Quit the Password Reset Utility by selecting “Restart” from the Apple menu at the top left corner of your screen.

Step 4: Log in with Your New Password

After following the previous steps, your Mac should now have a new password associated with your user account. Restart your Mac normally and log in using your newly set password.

Congratulations, you have successfully bypassed your Mac password!

Remember to keep your new password secure and memorable. It’s always a good practice to create complex passwords that are difficult for others to guess but easy for you to remember.
