Are you concerned about privacy when sharing photos that include other people’s faces? The good news is that you can easily blur faces on your iPhone to protect the identity of those individuals. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the step-by-step process of blurring faces using built-in editing tools on your iPhone.

Step 1: Open the Photos App

To get started, unlock your iPhone and locate the Photos app. It typically appears as a multicolored flower icon on your home screen. Tap on it to launch the app.

Step 2: Select the Photo

Browse through your albums or camera roll to find the photo that contains the face you want to blur. Once you’ve found it, tap on it to open it in full-screen view.

Step 3: Tap on Edit

At the bottom right corner of your screen, you will see an “Edit” button. Tap on it to enter editing mode.

Step 4: Choose Markup

After entering editing mode, various editing options will appear at the bottom of your screen. Tap on “..” (the three dots) and select “Markup” from the menu that appears.

Step 5: Select Blur Tool

In Markup mode, tap on the plus sign (+) located in the bottom right corner of your screen. A menu will pop up with different tools. Select “Blur” from this menu.

  • Adjust Brush Size: If needed, adjust the brush size by using two fingers and pinching or spreading them apart.
  • Precision: Zoom in on specific parts of the image to ensure precise and accurate blurring.

Step 6: Blur the Face

Using your finger or Apple Pencil, carefully trace over the face that you want to blur. The selected area will immediately become blurred.

  • Undo Mistakes: If you make a mistake, tap on the undo button (curved arrow) at the top left corner of the screen to erase your last stroke.
  • Redo: If you accidentally undo an action or change your mind, tap on the redo button (curved arrow in the opposite direction) to restore your previous action.

Step 7: Save Your Edited Photo

Once you are satisfied with the results, tap on “Done” at the bottom right corner of your screen. You will be directed back to the main editing screen. Tap on “Done” again to save your edited photo.

Congratulations! You have successfully blurred a face in a photo using your iPhone. Now you can share your photos with peace of mind knowing that sensitive information is protected.

Please note that once you save the edited photo, it will overwrite the original file. If you want to preserve both versions, it’s recommended to create a duplicate copy before editing.

If you ever need to unblur a face or make further adjustments, simply repeat these steps and modify accordingly. The Markup tool provides flexibility and control over your edits.
