Blocking someone on your iPhone can be a useful feature when it comes to avoiding unwanted calls, messages, or any other form of contact. Whether it’s an annoying telemarketer or a person you no longer want to communicate with, blocking them can provide you with peace of mind. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to block someone on your iPhone.

Step 1: Open Settings

To begin the process, locate and tap on the “Settings” app on your iPhone’s home screen. The Settings app is represented by a gear icon.

Step 2: Scroll down and select “Phone”

Within the Settings menu, scroll down until you find the option labeled “Phone”. Tap on it to proceed.

Step 3: Tap on “Blocked Contacts”

In the Phone menu, you will see several options. Look for “Blocked Contacts” and tap on it. This is where you will manage your blocked contacts list.

Step 4: Add a Contact to Block

To add a contact to your blocked list, tap on the “+ Add New” option located at the top right corner of the screen.

Note:

  • You can only block contacts that are saved in your phonebook. If you want to block someone who is not in your contacts list, make sure to save their details first.
  • If a contact has multiple entries (e.g., multiple phone numbers), blocking one entry will block all associated entries. Keep this in mind while adding contacts to your blocked list.

Step 5: Choose a Contact from Your Phonebook

A new screen will appear, displaying your phonebook. Scroll through your contacts and select the person you want to block. Once you have chosen the contact, tap on their name to proceed.

Step 6: Confirm Blocking the Contact

After tapping on the contact’s name, a confirmation screen will appear. It will display the contact’s details along with an option to “Block this Caller”. Tap on it to block the selected contact.

Note:

  • Once blocked, you will no longer receive calls, messages, or FaceTime requests from that contact.
  • Blocked contacts won’t be notified that they have been blocked, so they may not be aware of it unless they try to contact you.

Step 7: Verify the Blocked Contact

To ensure that the contact has been successfully blocked, navigate back to the “Blocked Contacts” menu in your Phone settings. You should see the blocked contact listed there.

Step 8: Unblock a Contact (if needed)

If at any point you wish to unblock a previously blocked contact, simply tap on their name in the “Blocked Contacts” list. On their profile screen, tap on “Unblock this Caller” to remove them from your blocked list.

Blocking someone on your iPhone can provide a sense of control over who can reach out to you. Whether it’s for personal reasons or simply avoiding spam calls, following these steps will help you manage your contacts effectively and maintain a peaceful mobile experience.
