Blocking a number on your iPhone 13 can be an effective way to filter unwanted calls and messages. Whether it’s a persistent telemarketer or an ex that you’d rather not hear from, the blocking feature on your iPhone can help keep your peace of mind intact. In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through the steps to block a number on your iPhone 13.

Step 1: Open the Phone App

To begin blocking a number, open the Phone app on your iPhone 13. This app is represented by a green icon with a white telephone receiver inside it.

Step 2: Go to Recent Calls

In the Phone app, navigate to the Recents tab at the bottom of the screen. This will display a list of all recent calls you’ve made, received, or missed.

Step 3: Find the Number You Want to Block

Browse through the list of recent calls and locate the number you wish to block. You can scroll up or down to find it. Once you find it, tap on the i icon next to the number.

Step 4: Access More Information About the Number

Tapping on the i icon will bring up additional details about that particular call or contact. Here you’ll see options such as Add to Contacts, Create New Contact, and more.

Step 5: Block the Number

To proceed with blocking this number, scroll down until you find an option called Block this Caller. Tap on it.

Step 6: Confirm the Block

A confirmation pop-up will appear on your screen, informing you that blocking this number will prevent them from contacting you via calls, messages, or FaceTime. If you are certain about blocking this number, tap on Block Contact to confirm.

Step 7: Verify the Blocked Status

To ensure the number has been successfully blocked, you can check for a few indicators. Firstly, in the recent calls list, you’ll notice that the blocked number now has a small phone icon with a line through it. Additionally, if you navigate to your Blocked Contacts list (which can be found under Settings > Phone > Blocked Contacts), you should see the blocked number listed there as well.

Note:

  • If you mistakenly block a number or wish to unblock it later, simply follow the same steps above and tap on Unblock this Caller.
  • Please keep in mind that blocked numbers won’t be able to leave voicemails either.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully learned how to block a number on your iPhone 13.
