Are you worried about losing your iPhone or having it stolen? Apple’s Find My iPhone feature can help you locate and track your device.

But did you know that you can also add people to Find My iPhone? By doing so, you can allow trusted friends or family members to help you locate your device in case it goes missing. In this tutorial, we will show you how to add people to Find My iPhone and give them permission to access your device’s location.

Step 1: Check Device Compatibility

Before we begin, make sure that your iOS device is compatible with the Find My iPhone feature. Find My iPhone is available on iPhones, iPads, iPod touches, and Macs running iOS 5 or later. If you’re not sure which version of iOS your device is running, go to “Settings” > “General” > “About” and look for the “Version” information.

Step 2: Enable Find My iPhone

If Find My iPhone is not already enabled on your device, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings: Tap on the “Settings” app on your home screen.
  2. iCloud: Scroll down and tap on “iCloud”.
  3. Find My iPhone: Tap on “Find My iPhone”.
  4. Toggle the Switch: Turn on the switch next to “Find My iPhone”. It should turn green when enabled.

Note: If prompted, enter your Apple ID and password to sign in to iCloud.

Step 3: Adding People to Find My iPhone

Now that Find My iPhone is enabled on your device, you can add people to help you locate it. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Find My App: Tap on the “Find My” app on your home screen. If you don’t have the app installed, you can download it from the App Store.
  2. Sign In: Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
  3. Tap on “People”: At the bottom of the screen, tap on “People”.
  4. Add a Person: Tap on the “+” icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  5. Select a Contact: Choose a contact from your address book by tapping on their name.
  6. Choose Their Access Level: Select whether you want to give them “Full Access” or “Limited Access”. Full access allows them to track and locate your device, while limited access only allows them to receive location updates.
  7. Tap on “Send”: Once you’ve made your selection, tap on “Send” to invite them to share their location with you.

Congratulations! You have successfully added a person to Find My iPhone.

They will now receive an invitation to share their location with you. Once they accept the invitation, they will be able to help you locate your device if it goes missing.

  • Manage Permissions: You can manage and revoke permissions for people added to Find My iPhone at any time by going back to the “People” section in the Find My app and tapping on their name.
  • Add Multiple People: You can add multiple people to Find My iPhone by following the same steps again for each person.
  • Remove People: If you no longer want someone to have access to your device’s location, you can remove them by going to the “People” section in the Find My app, swiping left on their name, and tapping on “Remove”.

With Find My iPhone and the ability to add people, you can have peace of mind knowing that there are trusted individuals who can help you locate your device if it ever gets lost or stolen.
